My ART story

Art is a form of communication, through which we express our thoughts, emotions, intuitions, and desires. For me, art is a way to express my imaginations and turn them into a visual form. When I have a stressful day or even have free time, I like to draw and design, it helps refresh my mind. Specifically, I love to draw and design clothes, shoes, and jewelry. I am not good at paintings but I enjoy playing around with colors and do abstract paintings. For me, art has always been an important part of my life, it is something also connects me to my late grandma. She used to love drawing, knitting flower designs and village scenarios on the quilt. Every piece of her artwork tells a story, which has inspired me to think beyond, be creative with my imagination and turn them into alive. I believe art is inside all of us, it doesn’t have to do with painting or drawing, it can be in any form which we use to express ourselves. I hope to learn more in depth about art, the history, the way different cultures and generations have defined art, and how people view art in today’s’ world.

How to Make a Post ?

  1. Go on to the CUNY Academic Commons site (https://commons.gc.cuny.edu)
  2. Look at the top right corner, it says “Register,” Click on it, and complete signup.
  3. Log into your account
  4. Click on the “Groups” tag, search “Art 1010 Fall 2018 9:30 am” (unless you have the link that was sent by the professor)
  5. Click on the 9:30 am Class MW tab on the left side corner
  6. Then, look at the top of the page, “+ New” tab, just click on it.
  7. There will be 2 options: “Post” or “Media.” Click on “Post”
  8. Here you go! Enter your title, on the white blank space type your work.
  9. On the right side of the page, you can see “Save Draft” you can click on it if you want to return and do it later.
  10. After you are done, scroll down on the right side, you will see “categories” check the box “9:30 AM class”. Also, underneath that, you will see “Tags” just add your tag.
  11. That’s it, click on the “Publish” button.
  12. Done!

How To Make a New Post

  1. Sign into CUNY Commons
  2. Click on the class 9:30AM tab on the left side corner.
  3.  At the very top of the page there will be a “+ New” button, click it !
  4. There will be a drop down menu with two options “post” or “media”. Choose “post”
  5. After typing up the good stuff, you can publish your post or you can also save your work if you want and return to it later.
  6.  Once you have finished, remember to check the box for the  9:30AM class in the “categories” selection. This is on the righthand bar.
  7. Add a tag to the post also located on the righthand bar, right underneath categories.
  8.  Finally, click on the publish button

 

How to make a post

Here are a few easy steps of how to make a post.
  1. Go sign in to class website.
  2. Click on the class 9:30AM tab on the left side corner.
  3.  You will see a drop down tab on the top left corner.
  4.  Which consider the CUNY Academic Commons, Fall 2018 Art 1010 at Brooklyn College, a message tab and finally you see a +New tab.
  5. Click on that “new” tab and drop your mouse done to the “post” button.
  6. Now your ready to post and you can also save your work if you want it to be finish later before publish.
  7.  You can also add media or picture, just clicking on the the “add media button” on the upper left hand corner in your document.
  8.  Once you have finish everything, just remember check on the 9:30AM class onthe “categories” selection. You do not your work go into a different class section.
  9. Last, remember to add a tag to the post and click on the publish button.

My art story

Art for me is a way that anyone can express their feelings and bring it to life. The smallest things can define how an artist is trying to convey the message they’re trying to portray such as the colors they use, and environment around their work. Art says more to me than words on a page as i can place myself into different types of art and express myself more naturally, even through others works. Art is a big of me and my family as we have many paintings around our house and office that defines all of us in our own ways.

Bringing feelings to life helps many in the same way that others use writing as their way to express themselves. Art has been around for thousands of years and it has helped us define how we see many cultures from the Egyptians to the Romans. Music has helped me as well as many others throughout life as it helps define the state that people go through and helps people express themselves to bring out things they didn’t even know were inside of them.

I hope to take from this class the ways that art defined cultures and shaped the way we see how people lived. People make their works from the world we live in today and i’m looking forward to learn more on how it’s being used in everyday life.

Posting a blog

Posting a blog for the first can be challenging but these simple 5 steps will make sure you never struggle with it again.

Step 1: Go onto the commons page and log into your account.

Step 2: Go to the title ” Art fall 2018 11am” and click on site.

Step 3: Once on the site you will see the word “new” on the top of the page, you will go to that and then click “post”.

Step 4: From there you can change the type of format, text, and even add media to the post.

Step 5: Once you are ready to post you click the publish button on the right side of the page.

Now you’re all set to go for whenever you want to post.

How to post your fantastic posts to Art 1010 Fa’18

Before you can run, you must learn how to walk. In order to successfully navigate your way through Commons, you should learn the basics. FYI. Your computer should be connected to the internet in some way. Otherwise, you should sap off your friend’s hotspot. 📲 💻

In order to post, open your browser and type in https://art1010shawfall18.commons.gc.cuny.edu/. Login to your activated Commons account with your username and password. Once logged in, navigate to the +New tab next to the little notification icon and click “Post.”
Choose an appropriate title (with a little bit of imagination). Begin typing the text of your post; remember to check your word count on the bottom left of the text box. Adjust your settings to whatever suits your needs (Knock yourself out pal, you’re almost done). You can customize text with bold, italics, color and hyperlinks among other things. Optionally, you can add media to your post by clicking “Add Media” at the top of the page, and adjustment is recommended for personal liking.
Upon completion, stroll on down to the bottom left panels and select your class category in Categories. Add an appropriate tag under the Tags, as Professor Shaw cannot find your post if it’s not right. Click the Publish button on the top right of the page once you’re done. Revision and edits are always available post publishing by returning the the post.

My Art Story

Art is a form of expression in which words can’t describe. As evident through the many eras of art through the years, this form of self-expression is usually unique to the interpreter no matter the age or being.

Art to me is a way of venting certain internal dilemmas most people can not understand unless they were in my shoes. As a introvert in most spaces, taking a step back from a scene to get a larger picture of what is really going on opens up new observations and flow of ideas. Through high school, I attended an art class that gave a lot of freedoms to design our own pieces and provided materials and advice to bring the ideas to life. Although I didn’t keep a lot of these pieces and left that at the school, It was a great experience and a great atmosphere of idea bonding with others who shared the same interest. This also help spark and interest in pursuing some career with artistic elements down the road.

The ideal takeaways from this class are that I learn more in depth in the different ages of art and a better understanding of how some great artists came to be with much less resources unlike the present day.

My art story

My definition of art is a way of expressing yourself. Art cannot be only one type of thing or genre. A painting is just as much as art as a piece of poetry. Art can be used to express your thoughts and imagination. Whatever you can’t speak out about, you can use art to portray those feelings for you.

Music and clothing is the type of art that is embedded into my life. I listen to music a lot and it syncs with my emotions. When I’m happy, I listen to more upbeat songs. When I’m sad, I tend to just listen to ballads and music with a slow tempo. I wear a hijab and so my hijab/fashion is another art that I use to express myself. It shows a lot about what I like and what I’m comfortable with.

How to post a blog

Posting a blog for the first time is tricky business. Well, you’re in luck because I’m here to guide you on how to post your first blog. Follow these simple steps and you will be fine.

Step 1: Log into your Commons account.

Step 2: Go to “Art 1010 Fall 2018 9:30 AM” and click on the little word that says “site.”

Step 3: If you go to the top of the page, you will notice a plus sign with the word new next to it. Click on that.

Step 4: After clicking on it, you will be redirected to a page where you can add a new post. Write your title and start from there.

Step 5: If you wish to add media, there is a button that will let you add the media you want.

Step 6: After writing everything you wanted, look in the right side of the page where you see “categories.” Click on the “9:30 AM Class” option. Below that is the option of putting tags. You can add the tag you wish to add.

Step 7: You are now done with your post and can now publish it.
