How To Post 101

How To Post

  1. Have an Idea  – The idea that you have in your head is your vision and will generally be your guide.
  2. Select a Platform – Selecting a platform helps you during the writing process because you are considering who you are writing for and how best to entertain your audience.
  3. Pick a Title- Picking a title generally helps you have a focus and reference point to what your post will be about. some people like to title their work after they’ve written everything. That is fine as well.
  4. Write Your Blog – Its very important to be expressive as you want when writing your blog. what you write is  a direct representation of who you are and your character. If your post just happens to be an assignment make sure you are tacking all the given prompts in the most unique way possible.
  5.  Post your Blog – After writing everything and making sure you are content with the outcome, you can post your blog for others to see. be on the look out for comments and constructive criticism from others. if you do receive them, make sure to take the comments into account for the next time you post.
  6.  Remember to Have Fun- That’s the ultimate name of the game. If you have fun while posting you know you’re doing something right

What art means to me

Art has many definitions. There are many elements to art and many categories. Some things that pop into my head when I hear art are architecture, design, textiles, sculpture, paintings, patterns, landscape, and expression. I am not a creative person and most of my life I didn’t like art. I never knew what to draw or where to start. I took a product design class in high school and we used zentangle patterns as the base of the class. I enjoyed this class because we learned a lot of patterns and used the in our product designs. I liked that I didn’t have to be too creative because I had the patterns to choose from but I got to make my own personal design. I hope to learn about every element of art and learn to appreciate all of its details.

How to Make a Post (the Grandmother Edition)

Dear Grandmother,

Congratulations on getting a computer! You’ll get much use of it, I’m sure.  I’m sure you would like to know how to make a blog post, because who wouldn’t? Here are some instructions to help.

First-off, there is a site that you will need to go onto, here is the link  https://art1010shawfall18.commons.gc.cuny.edu click on it and it should take you to the correct site that you need.  Once you are on the site you will need to add yourself to the Art History Page. On the Left side of the screen, if you scroll down a little, you’ll see a button that says something along the lines of  “Add Recipient”. When you press it you’ll be automatically added to the page.

The first step is complete, great job!!! Next, On the top of the screen you’ll see a “+ New” click on it and a few choices come down.  Click on “Post”, and Boom you can start writing your blog!

Once you are finished, make sure to tag it and categorize it and then hit the button “Publish”.

I hope you found this helpful. if you have any questions, give me a call.

My Art Story

To me art is any outward expression of our inner emotions and thinking. Art is very individualistic yet can bring many people together. Forms of art can range from paintings to music to how you wear your clothes. Music has been very important to me on a daily basis and I am sure to many others as well. Music allows me to map out a road of emotions I want to feel based on the type of genre. I also link many important memories to the music during that time. The art form of music is universal because it is all based on basic human emotions understood by people from any where in the world past, present and future.

My Art Story

What is art? Art is complicated and has endless meanings. For example, the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. It is a questionable piece of work which is interpreted differently by everyone. There’s an old saying “One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.” To the average person this painting is seen as old piece of artwork that became famous overtime because of the image portrayed during the time period. Five centuries ago it was not common to showcase emotions through a painting and a smile was no exception. To me I see a new style of art, one that expresses creativity and possibilities. Art is subjective to the viewer. In art there is no wrong or right. As a famous man, Bob Ross, once said “We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” These words of wisdom encourage people to not think of mistakes as a bad thing, but as a natural part of the work.  Art is about the journey to create a greater picture that is meaningful with emotion and personality.

My Art Story

Q: Write up your art story: What we mean when we say art? What is art to you? How does it fit in to your life? What do you want to learn about in this class?

A: I feel as if art is defined by ones self. If you were to have asked me this questions a few years ago, I would tell you something about boring paintings or drawings with little interest. I would also tell you that art is pointless and it would get you no where in life, I would make fun on art majors and the people I would see on the street with their art. I would associate art with being easy to do and no skill required.

What art to me is now is something beyond words, expression without expression, art is something unique to each person.  I believe an images or pictures can speak thousands of words, words in your own definition, words only you can describe, words only you can create. And the “you” in this instance is not only the Artist them selves, but the person observing and taking in this art.

The way art now fits into my life is through the way I dress, what I listen to, how I listen to things, and my mindset of everyday life. My new appreciation of art goes hand in hand with my outlook on life as I realize things arent as cut and dry and I used to look at it. Everything as a story and everything is designed for a reason. Art for product promotions, Art for self expression, Art for broadcasting a voice, many things.

What I want to learn from this class is that of a better understanding of art. I want to look at art in different lights to see how It influences my thinking and dressing
