Blog Post #2: My Art Story

At the age of nine, I never had an inclination to learn about art & where it came from or how to create art. Previously, I would go to an art museum I would just gaze around, look at the sculptures, drawings, & photos and then leave. When I would draw I would be compared to someone who has two left hands or as a blind person, the drawings used to be that bad so I just stopped in general, when I doodled I just draw randomness, nothing cohesive. Until I went to the Brooklyn Museum & it all changed.

On a cold, frigid day in January, my family took us (my three sisters & I) to the Brooklyn Museum and as soon as we got there we were met by a tour guide, Oliver. He showed us around & went in depth through the history of some of the art including The Mellow Pad & Roman Landscape, throughout this guide I felt a joy in learning where these art pieces were made, what they meant, & how they ended up at this museum. After we left the museum I wanted to learn more about art and where it came from so I did. That is my art story & how I got to this class.
